Istanbul Turkey Street Food Prices, while leaving our Airbnb on the fourth floor, we prepared for another day of exploring Istanbul. We were excited to show you more of this vibrant city. It’s hilly, so prepare to walk and wear comfortable shoes.
Exploring the Grand Bazaar
One of our first stops was the Grand Bazaar, known as the largest and oldest bazaar in the world, dating back to the 1400s. It’s a bustling marketplace with everything from purses to shoes. A crucial tip: avoid eye contact if you’re not interested in buying anything. Be polite but firm, and keep moving.
Everyone we met was incredibly kind and friendly. We met Pedro, who was eager to help and share tips about the area. The hospitality here is unmatched.
A Walk Across the Bosphorus
As we continued our journey, we crossed the Bosphorus bridge. This bridge connects Europe and Asia, and it’s an iconic experience you shouldn’t miss. The views were spectacular, especially as the sun set and the city lights began to twinkle.
Crossing the bridge from the European side to the Asian side of Istanbul, we found a riverside area that reminded us of home. People were bustling about, enjoying the cool evening air and the array of riverside restaurants.
Savory Wraps To Fresh Watermelons…
Enjoying Uncommon Delicacies
We got adventurous and tried a fish wrap, which came highly recommended. It included grilled fish, a mix of vegetables, and a variety of secret sauces. The vendor wrapped it all up, creating a delicious, savory treat. Street food like this is inexpensive, costing only about 9 Turkish Lira, making it easy to try many local specialties.
We also grabbed some fresh watermelon for just 80 cents. Fresh fruit vendors are scattered throughout the city, providing a refreshing and affordable snacking option.
Nightly Tips in the Grand Bazaar
We ended our night back at the Grand Bazaar. Be cautious as it can be a maze, especially after dark. Navigating out of the bazaar can be tricky, but it’s part of the adventure.
Before heading back to our Airbnb, we grabbed some chicken and rice, choosing to eat it back home. Prices for street food and simple meals are pleasantly affordable in Istanbul.
Istanbul Turkey Street Food Prices: Conclusion
Exploring Istanbul’s street food scene is both delicious and budget-friendly. From savory wraps to fresh watermelon, there’s something for everyone. Remember to navigate the Grand Bazaar with confidence and enjoy the unique experience of crossing continents via the Bosphorus bridge.
