July 15, 2024Cappadocia Turkey Accommodations Guide Our Journey To A Cave Hotel
Cappadocia Turkey Accommodation Guide. Hello, loves! Faustino and I have embarked on an unforgettable journey in Cappadocia. Tonight marks our last night in the quaint village we’ve grown to love, before moving on to Gum. As we bid farewell to this charming locale, we’re spending our evening exploring a stunning mountain and its historical cave dwellings. Join us on this magical adventure. Today, we’re excited to take you with us on our exploration of Goreme, a quaint town in Cappadocia. If you’re new around here, make sure to hit that subscribe button to follow our travel adventures.
Visiting a Coffee House in Goreme
Our day began at the center coffee house in Goreme. This charming spot is always buzzing with activity, making it the perfect place to sip on a warm drink and watch the city life unfold. While Tenaj enjoyed a hot cocoa, I had something that tasted like nothing but hot steamed milk – a bit sweet, not quite my thing. Nonetheless, it was a lovely start to a day filled with exploration
Plan for the Day
With our cave hotel check-in scheduled for 1 PM, we had some time to kill. Planning for an easy day, we decided to stroll around Goreme, grab a bite to eat, and soak in the sights.
Checking into the Cave Hotel
Our hotel wouldn’t be ready until later in the afternoon, so we stored our bags and set off to find some food. Goreme has a lot to offer, and every corner has a story. The air is filled with the enticing aromas of local cuisine, and we were excited to explore more.
Amazement at Fruit Trees in Goreme
One thing that really struck us in Goreme was the abundance of fruit trees. Everywhere we looked, we saw blackberry bushes, apple trees, and grapevines. Sampling fresh blackberries was an unexpected delight. The fruits are so sweet and luscious; it’s the perfect place for a fruit lover to visit.
Considering Renting Scooters
Faced with the idea of renting a scooter, we quickly had second thoughts due to the chaotic traffic. Even though it could have been a fun way to explore neighboring villages, the lack of traffic signals and wild driving deterred us. The cost was fairly reasonable, at 40 liras a day, but we ultimately decided it wasn’t worth the risk.
Finding a Place for Lunch
Eventually, we found ourselves at Linda Vistro and Rajer, a quaint bistro with various seating options – outdoor terraces and cozy indoor spaces. Given the noon sun was mercilessly hot, we chose to sit inside.
Enjoying the Meal
The burger we ordered was perfect – and trust us, turkey does its burgers differently. Topped with bacon and cheese, and accompanied by seasoned fries, it was a delectable treat. One great thing about Turkey that we appreciate is the availability of zero/diet drinks, which helps in keeping carb intake low while indulging in other delights.
Heading to the Hotel Room
After lunch, we began our long walk to the hotel. We considered a quick stop at a local corner store for some supplies but decided to head straight to our room instead. The anticipation was building, especially since we were looking forward to our cave hotel experience.
We Were Floored By Our Room’s Uniqueness…
Need for Shaving Supplies
I noticed my hair was starting to grow back, and I needed a shave. Unfortunately, the corner store didn’t have the rubbing alcohol I needed to cleanly shave. Deciding to find a barber, we saw it as another opportunity to explore the local services.
Checking into the Cave Hotel Room
Upon arriving at the Medusa Rock Cave Hotel, we were asked for our passports at check-in, which is a standard procedure in Turkey. The hotel’s Wi-Fi information was provided and breakfast was slated for 8 AM, giving us enough time to catch up after our early morning outing.
First Impressions of the Cave Hotel Room
We were floored by our room’s uniqueness. The cave-like design added an ancient charm while still providing modern comforts. The view from our room was nothing short of stunning. The hotel itself combines the historical with luxury, creating a setting that’s both unique and comfortable.
Plans for Sunrise
According to the staff, the best time to observe the famous hot air balloons is around 5:30 to 6:00 AM. With that in mind, we set our alarms to ensure we wouldn’t miss this quintessential Cappadocian experience. We couldn’t wait to capture the mesmerizing view of balloons at sunrise, right from our terrace.
