No Justice in Baton Rouge After 9/11 Attack: A Community’s Fight for Accountability
October 12, 2024Baton Rouge Attacker Revealed Injuries Worse Than We Thought
Baton Rouge Attacker Revealed! September 11th will forever be burned into our memories – not just as a historical day, but as a day filled with personal pain as we recount what happened. Two weeks have passed since the brutal attack in Baton Rouge, and our fight for justice is far from over. Even though we now know the attacker’s identity, he remains a free man. The injuries have proven to be more severe than anticipated. We’re detailing everything here, from hospital visits to our unresolved legal frustrations.
Seeking Justice: Why Hasn’t the Attacker Been Arrested?
The most frustrating question that keeps surfacing is why the Baton Rouge attacker is still walking free. We’ve done everything we’re supposed to do, but we’re continuously met with roadblocks. We still don’t understand why the criminal charges haven’t escalated to second-degree battery or assault, especially given the severity of what happened.
Our attempts to secure protection haven’t been easy either. We initially tried obtaining a restraining order. Without knowing the attacker’s name or having a completed police report, our request was denied. This sent us into even deeper frustration, wondering: why can’t anything be done?
Baton Rouge Attacker Revealed: The Battle for a Restraining Order
We finally caught a break after countless calls to East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, when a compassionate deputy allowed us to access the attacker’s name. This essential detail finally pushed things forward, resulting in an emergency protection order. Yet, even this so-called victory came with fresh anxieties.
The restraining order presented us with a terrifying possibility: would serving it provoke the attacker into retaliation? The entire weekend was marked by dread, wondering if the order would lead him back to our doorstep. We knew this wasn’t the end – but the beginning of new concerns about our safety.
Disappointment with Law Enforcement
We spent multiple days trying to get law enforcement to take our concerns seriously. From deputies up to supervisors, there seemed to be a synchronized apathy on our case.
Days went by, and we were sent from one precinct to another, hoping to speak to someone with the power to arrest the man responsible for this crime. At one point, an internal affairs officer even promised we could meet a precinct captain for answers. But—just like everything else—we were led to yet another dead end.
The captain wasn’t even at the precinct, despite being told to expect our visit. Our hearts sank deeper into disbelief.
Life After the Attack: Injuries Far Worse Than Anticipated
The physical toll of the attack has been profound. Initially, the injuries I sustained didn’t seem as extreme as they truly were. But after a visit to the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist, we learned that things were far worse than originally understood.
My nasal bones were badly shattered, and the break extended deep into the upper bones of my face, impacting my septum and even my tear ducts. Moving forward would involve emergency surgery to try to reduce the damage before the fractures healed in their broken state. Leaving it untreated would have disfigured me permanently.
Hearing the extent of the surgery required made my heart sink. It was clear that this attack wasn’t just a punch. It was a life-altering assault that left my nose damaged beyond recognition.
Hospital Visits and Emergency Surgery
The next stage involved preparing for surgery. A closed reduction procedure was scheduled to reposition the damaged bones. But the doctors warned us: there were no promises it would completely correct the injury. The damage was extensive, and while they would try to make my nose as straight as possible, full symmetry might never be restored.
Entering that surgical room filled me with apprehension. Knowing that my broken nose would now go through more trauma to be temporarily fixed was unsettling. The discomfort in black eyes, swollen tissues, and facial fractures continued long after the surgery.
Despite this, we kept our faith strong, knowing that this was only one step in the recovery. I still remember the hospital saying that this was only “the first of many surgeries” that would take place. Those words stuck with me.
The Attacker’s Identity Finally Revealed
Through digging around, we found out the attacker’s identity, and to say we were shocked is an understatement. This man, who lectured me about leash laws as if he had the moral high ground, turned out to have a pretty checkered background himself. Multiple misdemeanors, DUIs, and encounters with the law followed him across several states, including San Diego, Georgia, and Florida.
Further research suggested this Baton Rouge attacker may have even undergone a name change to avoid consequences from his earlier actions. How could it be that an individual with such a history can lecture others and assault them without consequence? More importantly, how has he managed to possess a firearm with all these offenses on his record? It’s heartbreaking to see the authorities continually turn a blind eye to this man’s actions while we navigate seemingly endless red tape just to deal with the aftershocks of his assault.
Baton Rouge Attacker Revealed: Why We Should All Be Concerned
We’ve heard people comment recklessly that this assault wasn’t justified—but defendable because of a leash law disagreement. To those saying “Well, you broke the leash law… you asked for it,” let’s be clear. Are we now justifying assault because a dog didn’t have a leash? Everyone breaks a rule once in a while. But punching someone in the face over it is a disproportionate response.
The bigger picture here isn’t just my injuries. It’s the broader threat this man poses to public safety. The justice system failed to protect us – we don’t want the same mistake to hurt someone else.
Our story isn’t just a personal account of a brutal assault. It’s a reflection on a flawed system that often fails the victims while protecting the wrongdoers. We are not giving up on securing justice for the Baton Rouge attacker revealed—even if the law continues to drag its feet.
We need your support and voices to hold those in power accountable. If enough of us speak up, we can protect not only ourselves but also our broader community. Reach out to your local officials with the contact information provided below and add your voice to those demanding action.
Justice needs to happen – not tomorrow, not next week, but now.
