June 18, 2024Our Van Was Confiscated In Mexico From Crisis To Unforgettable Adventures
Our van was confiscated in Mexico, and it’s been a rollercoaster ever since. Initially, finding content was tough, but we’ve got a new story that adds some spice to our Van Life in Mexico. This Memorial Day weekend was nothing short of wild. If you love booze, boats, and a little bit of excitement, stick around for this unforgettable tale.
The Unexpected Invitation
Have you ever been invited to an event where you didn’t know anyone or what to expect? That was us this Memorial Day weekend. We drove eight hours to Florida and checked into a beautiful Airbnb. It was like an oasis – private yet connected to someone’s house, complete with a pool and tranquil surroundings.
We arrived late and were allowed to check out a little later, giving us extra time to prepare for the big event. The anticipation was high as we got ready for what we thought was a simple pool party.
The Pool Party Surprise: Our Van Confiscated in Mexico
The party turned out to be a wild foam party. We were invited by someone Tenaj met on Instagram, and we had no idea what to expect. Dressed for a pool party, we headed to a massive house with a sprawling backyard complete with slide doors, greenery, and a dock.
Walking through the front door, we had to do a little dance to get into the party spirit. The house was spacious and beautifully designed. The hosts, T and K, were absolutely amazing and made us feel right at home. The setup included a DJ, foam machine, and lots of mingling.
Hungover But Excited…
Booze, Boats, and BBQ
The party kicked into high gear with swimming, dancing, and drinking. At one point, I ended up cooking for everyone. The locals were planning to throw meat in the oven without seasoning. Being from New Orleans, I couldn’t let that happen. So, I took over the grill, and it turned out fantastic, earning us some accolades from all party-goers.
The celebration stretched into the early hours, with everyone finally hitting the bed around 2:30 a.m. The vibe was great, and it reminded us of the community we love in van life.
Day 2: Hangovers and Sailing
Hungover but excited, we met everyone for breakfast the next day. Despite the heavy heads, we were ready for another adventure—a boat trip. A friend’s houseboat awaited us, complete with a backyard oasis that felt like stepping into another world.
We sailed through the canals, marveling at the crystal-clear water and stunning homes lining the bay. One of the stops included seeing the grand palace of the Walgreens owner. The highlight was docking at the sandbar in Stuart, Florida, where boats parked side by side, creating a massive floating party.
The sandbar experience was surreal. People barbecued, played with their dogs, and enjoyed drinks from floating bars. It was a perfect escape from our van troubles.
Recap and Looking Ahead
After returning from the sandbar, we enjoyed a relaxing evening with good food and great company. This trip was a reminder that despite the challenges, life has its beautiful moments. Our van confiscated in Mexico has been a tough journey, but weekends like this make it all worth it. We are still working on getting our van back, but we’re taking things one step at a time. This weekend was a needed distraction, filled with laughter and new friendships.
